The Indian digital entertainment landscape has experienced a paradigm shift with the proliferation of Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms and the concurrent rise of high-budget web series. However, this growth has been paralleled by an aggressive expansion of online piracy. This paper examines the ecosystem of piracy websites—specifically using the operational models of platforms commonly known as FilmyFly, Filmy4wap, and Filmywap—to understand the supply and demand dynamics of copyrighted content. By analyzing the technological infrastructure, the legal countermeasures under the Copyright Act of 1957, and the socio-economic drivers behind piracy consumption, this study highlights the challenges facing the Indian Media and Entertainment (M&E) sector.
