The default Rugby 08 legacy layout utilizes a "face button" sprint mechanic (traditionally Triangle/Y). Contemporary sports games (FIFA, Madden, Rugby 22/24) have standardized sprint to the Right Trigger (R2/RT). The default layout causes player fatigue as the thumb must constantly leave the right stick (used for tactical kicks) to sprint.
