Surinder Sahni (Shah Rukh Khan) is a shy, ordinary office worker who marries Taani (Anushka Sharma) under tragic circumstances. Taani, grieving and unable to love her new husband, tries to live a dutiful life. Surinder, deeply in love with her, decides to win her heart not as her husband, but by transforming into the loud, flamboyant "Raj" in a dance class they both attend. The movie explores the duality of his identity and whether Taani will fall for the persona or the man beneath it.
