The movie begins with Jack Reacher, a former military policeman, who is hitchhiking to Nashville. He gets involved in a seemingly straightforward case of a small-town police chief (played by Werner Herzog) being murdered. Reacher soon uncovers a much larger conspiracy related to a military police operation and a sinister corporation called ArmorGroup.
