No discussion of entertainment is complete without music. Composer Hikaru Yoshida used a broken koto (13-stringed Japanese harp) to score the series. The strings are purposely detuned to mimic the discord of the house. The main theme, "Tasogare no Kuchu" (Twilight Drone), features a single voice humming in the shōga style—no lyrics, just breath.
