Resetting the counter does not physically clean the ink pads. If the counter says the pads are full, they likely are near capacity. If you reset the counter without replacing or cleaning the pads, the printer will resume working, but ink will eventually overflow from the bottom of the printer. This can leak onto your desk, carpets, or electronics, causing a messy and potentially damaging situation.
