Moving beyond traditional notions of the "director’s cut" or "restoration," patched filmography is defined by its decentralized, often participatory, and platform-driven nature. Focusing on the symbiotic relationship between these patched works and the ecosystem of popular videos (e.g., YouTube compilations, TikTok stitches, Instagram Reels), this study argues that the patched filmography represents a fundamental shift in authorship and spectatorship. Analyzing case studies including fan-restored lost films, high-concept YouTube supercuts, and narrative TikTok series, the paper concludes that the "patch" has become a dominant logic of contemporary visual culture, prioritizing modularity, immediacy, and collective memory over the singular, pristine auteurist vision.
