This study used a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative data. An online survey was conducted among 100 viewers who watched both the original English version and the Tamil dubbed version of "Gravity." Additionally, in-depth interviews were conducted with five film critics and translators who worked on the dubbed version.
The Tamil dubbed version of "Gravity," titled "Isaidub Gravity Tamil," offers an interesting case study on the impact of language on cinematic experience. While dubbing can make a film more accessible to a wider audience, it also poses challenges in terms of translation accuracy and emotional resonance.
