Mobius Unleashed is a significant fan-driven project within the Sonic the Hedgehog community, specifically designed as a spiritual successor or expansion to the beloved "Sonic Unleashed" (2008). While SEGA has focused on titles like Sonic Frontiers and the upcoming Sonic x Shadow Generations , the community has taken it upon themselves to "unleash" the full potential of the franchise's world, known as Mobius. Traditional surveillance theory (Bentham, Foucault) assumes an asymmetrical gaze: the watcher outside, the watched inside. In the age of social media and ubiquitous computing, we have become both watcher and watched simultaneously. The algorithmic feed performs a half-twist: my desire for privacy produces data that is sold to advertisers, which shapes the content I see, which modifies my desires. The surveillance subject surveils themselves. When unleashed, the Möbius surveillance loop means that resistance and compliance are the same surface. There is no outside from which to critique the system.
